All About Chalazion

A Chalazion is a painless bump or nodule inside the lower or upper eyelid. Chalazia occurs from the healed internal styes that are no longer infectious. These cysts like bumps or nodules forms around an oil gland within the eyelid.

The contents of chalazion  incorporates lipids ( blocked fatty secretions) and pus that normally helps in lubricating the eye but can no longer drain it out.  It is not an infection but an inflammation  of the eye area.

In many cases, it becomes chronic and  patients have to get it removed.
