Surgical Cure For Nystagmus
Several Surgical Cure For Nystagmus have been developed to reduce null positions and thus improve a patient’s cosmetic appearance. Severe disabling nystagmus, that is unresponsive to other therapies may require retrobulbar(behind the eyeball) injection of botulinum toxin, which is used to paralyze the ocular muscles and thus reduce nystagmus. It has not become a practical treatment since the effect of this drug lasts only three to four months and requires injection into the ocular muscles under general anesthesia along with being a very expensive procedure.
