Laser for Diabetes-affected Eye
Diabetes is a disease that produces hemorrhages in the retinal blood vessels. It is called diabetic retinopathy. The eye is affected after a prolonged duration of diabetes of about 10 to 12 years. And more so if it is not strictly controlled. It is also true that presence of high blood pressure with diabetes together with lack of exercise, usage of alcohol and tobacco, irregular dietary habits and sedentary life excites and produces diabetic retinopathy. It is also true that all diabetic individuals do not fall into the retinopathy group. Only 15 to 20 per cent do. Healthy diabetics with regular exercise of slow and steady walking of one hour’s duration, regular controlled diet and occupied in useful professions with Yoga and meditation, Vedantic and positive bent of mind remain free from the effect on eyes.
